793F Radiator Access Platform

PROBLEM

Due to Australia’s harsh mining conditions, haul truck radiators require routine maintenance to ensure engines do not overheat. Overheating will often cause damage to the engine, reducing its life and operational efficiency.

Access to the lower radiator on Caterpillar 793F haul trucks poses a falling from height risk for maintenance personnel, particularly when attempting to access the area without the correct equipment.

A valued client from a mine site in the Pilbara consulted one of our team about this issue.

SOLUTION

Rough view of safety standPRODUCTION DRAWING SNAPSHOT

Our design, engineering and fabrication team worked together to develop a safer and more efficient access solution to the 793F radiator.

As is the same with most of our access platforms, this platform was constructed in heavy-duty aluminium, with a non-slip stairway and work area.

A self-closing gate and removable handrails are built into the large work area to maximise personnel safety. Levelling jacks also maximise stability during maintenance.

Forklift slots and high quality German made castor wheels are fitted for easy movement and storage efficiency.

The platform is designed to be used in multiple maintenance situations, such as checking fittings or taking the radiator out. The large work area significantly reduces the risk of personnel falling during maintenance.

RESULT

The platform was delivered to site on-time and on-budget. Maintenance personnel are able to work with greater peace of mind knowing their safety is enhanced while using a Bend-tech access platform.

Our capability to produce radiator access platforms extends beyond the 793F, so get in contact with one of our team today to discuss your options!
